Endometriosis is a common condition that affects one in ten women. Endometriosis is a condition where n the tissue that makes up the uterine lining grows outside the uterus. Tissues is usually found on the ovaries, fallopian tube or intestines. It’s common for people suffering from endometriosis to struggle with natural conception. Nearly 20 to 30% of women with infertility have endometriosis. Endometriosis causes distortion of the fallopian tubes and they are unable to pick up egg after ovulation, also creating inflammation that can adversely affect the function of the ovary, egg, fallopian tubes or uterus.
When the endometriosis is so severe that conception does not happen, then almost all of those patients need the IVF treatment to get pregnant. Once conception occurres, your doctor can take steps to prevent the endometriosis from reoccurring.
